Welcome to the Leopards’ class!

Our class is made up of 32 wonderful, hardworking children. Our teacher is Miss Bloomfield, and we are very lucky to have LSAs Mrs Newstead, Mrs Telling and Mrs Cannon in our class.

Our day in Year 4 starts with times tables practice and independent reading whilst the register is taken. We are keen to develop the children’s love for reading by giving them access to a wide variety of texts and genres. We get started straight away with our guided reading before moving onto English. We then have assembly, followed by break time. After break we get started with our Maths lesson, and either handwriting or PSHE. The afternoons are then filled with our wider curriculum subjects.

We are incredibly fortunate to have Mrs Kirby teaching the children Art on a Tuesday morning, where they have been focusing on printing and adding texture to their work. And Mrs Doherty Tuesday afternoons for RE where the children have been looking at Salvation. .

Our wider curriculum subjects include Computing, Art, Design and Technology, Religious Education, Music, History and Geography. We have lots of exciting activities planned for each of these subjects this term, including: developing a recipe for cookies, online safety, body percussion, Anglo-Saxons, and rivers! In our weekly science lessons, we have been really homing in on our understanding of living things, by delving into classification and identification keys.

PSHE continues to be taught twice weekly. This term, Leopards’ class are fortunate enough to have swimming on Monday mornings and PE on Tuesdays. We ask that on Monday children come with kit underneath their uniform and Tuesday PE kit on all day.

Regular reading and times tables practice at home remain imperative to children’s learning to help them consolidate language and mathematical rules which they will need in their lessons in school.
